Fios

"We found very little consistency in other search tools... dtSearch has no serious competition"

All Evidence Points to dtSearch

Fios, provider of electronic evidence discovery services offers litigation teams a complete solution surrounding the acquisition, conversion, management, analysis, and distribution of electronic data associated with the litigation discovery process. As an electronic discovery leader, Fios focuses on cases that deal with complex and novel issues where the evidence is in an electronic form. Fios' services enable litigation teams to better represent their clients, which is critically important when the stakes can be in the millions.

In fact, electronic discovery has become such a valuable strategy that, in some cases, paper documents are also converted into electronic files. Buried within the files are often the "smoking guns" litigators can use to win a case. Fios enables litigators to instantly find and categorise needed information making the discovery process more effective and efficient.

Once discovery material arrives at the Fios data centre, technicians convert and process the material, building a comprehensive archive of all of the electronic data. This is then posted to a web-based repository for easy access.

"Typically, with our size archives, a week to do a report was a reasonable request... now, with dtSearch, we can get the first search results back to the litigator by the time it takes to get off the phone."

Litigation teams then search the archive and prioritise the findings. This system needs to deliver search results in as little time as possible. These case archives can be enormous depending on the case and litigators need a fast and comprehensive solution for retrieving information.

Early on, Fios began an exhaustive review of search engines that would solve the information retrieval problem. After reviewing six leading search tools, they discovered that dtSearch was the only search engine that had everything. "We found very little consistency in other search tools," said Bernard Stea, CIO, Fios, "dtSearch has no serious competition."

By entering keywords and phrases into the dtSearch engine, litigation teams can create prioritised search reports of the discovery contents. "Typically, with the size of these archives, a week to do a report was reasonable" says Stea. With dtSearch, in most cases, a search can be done in a matter of minutes."

Fios is currently using dtSearch in conjunction with a whole range of proprietary software tools to provide electronic discovery services to clients.
